My eyes hurt when I focus on something closely?

My eyes have hurt for about the past tree days, i thought it was just allergies so i took benedryl & other pain relievers but that didn't seem to do much.. The pain hurt so much last night (right eye hurt more than left) that i started crying. I removed all of my make up and took out my contacts, took a shower (helped for a while). i put new contacts in after i got out of the shower and they hurt a little again but the pain went away after a while. i went to bed an hour later and woke up this morning to more pain... when i woke up i could slightly open my eyes and my left eye hurt more than the right opposite of last night. i used some visine advanced relief but that didnt help. now its more like my eyes cant focus on objects that are close to me without me having to squint because of pain. i do have contacts on right now and i'm nearsighted. my eyes feel achy, tired and irritated.... it's really hard to explain. extra tip: my last eye appointment was roughly a year ago. and i do take out my contacts every night before i go to bed.
