Why are Amanda Holden and Piers Morgan judges on Britain Has Talent?

What have they done - how did Amanda know that that dancer last night was 'technically correct' - is she a dancer? Why did the Darth Vader fella get through but the boy playin drums didnt? I thought it was a talent show?
